When conjugating verbs, we look at a verb in the infinitive form (with the -ar, -er, and -ir endings still on) and then take off those endings and add on the endings to tell us who is doing the action. Please watch these following videos in order to better understand this concept.
In English, we also conjugate our verbs, but with fewer forms than Spanish. For example, in English we say, "I speak" but "He/she speaks." So the verb "to speak" changes between speak and speaks depending on who is doing the speaking. In Spanish, there are 6 forms as opposed to our 2.
