Vamos a tomar el examen de español el 27 de febrero.
You should be studying with the study guides given in class and anything that we've done so far this year. Studying your vocabulary words will be extremely helpful. All of the vocabulary words that we have had can be found on the textbook´s website. To practice your listening comprehension, this website is very helpful. The menu bar at the top allows you to choose which level (the link above takes you to the Beginner activity on Family) and topic you want to practice. I recommend listening first without reading the script that they provide. Then read the script to see how much you understood/understand. Here is another website where you can practice listening on a multitude of topics, mainly based on the current world news. To practice vocabulary, check out Quizlet. Click on different sections to review different vocabulary sets. Describing your family is an important skill, especially for the final exam. Check out this video: http://blip.tv/aprender-ingles-en-spanishdictcom/aprender-ingl%C3%A9s-1-8-la-familia-y-las-descripciones-personales-1322075 Any preguntas? Just ask me! Buena suerte, Señorita Ray Please take this survey before continuing to work on your menu!
http://www.surveymonkey.com/s/8NS7R9H For this activity, click here to retrieve the document that you need to use to answer some important questions about foods/menus in Spain. Then, use the computer to create a menu of the day for a Spanish restaurant. You MAY work with una pareja (a partner). Please choose your partners wisely. Your menu needs to include the following: SPANISH Titles/Sections for the following: Appetizers, Entrees, Desserts At least 3 choices under each section Estimated prices in Euros (you will probably need to use a converter) Your NOMBRES!! Optional: A Name for your "Restaurant" Check out some Spanish menus for ideas, check out the following links: http://www.comerhoyenmadrid.es/restaurantes/ http://www.restalo.es/oferton-madrid?id=44610 http://elhornodejuan.com/food/menu-del-dia/ Sites with good information: http://spanishfood.about.com/od/discoverspanishfood/a/spain_meals.htm http://www.justlanded.com/english/Spain/Articles/Culture/Meals http://erikras.com/2012/02/16/a-guide-to-spanish-meal-names/ http://www.frommers.com/destinations/spain/0242020880.html Then, check out my example:
After you finish your quiz and fixing any papers that you need to, please follow this link to practice your vocabulary.

I'm very impressed with how much you've remembered from last year and how well you're doing in class. Keep up the good work!
Today is Mexico's Independence Day and we will be learning more about this in class tomorrow. When you have time and want to learn more about the countries where Spanish is primarily spoken, check out this awesome website that goes with our textbook. Just choose which country you want to learn about and get browsing! http://phschool.com/webcodes10/index.cfm?wcprefix=jae&wcsuffix=0002&area=view&x=0&y=0 Sinceramente, Tu maestra We had a great first day of school! Please check here for updates as we go through the school year. Don't forget to get your Spanish syllabus signed and returned, as well as your Technology Use Agreement.
¡Nos vemos mañana! Estimados estudiantes,
We've almost made it to the end of the year! I'm proud of you for your hard work. Please follow these instructions for today. You already know how to conjugate -ar verbs. That's where you take off the -ar ending and then add on the o, as, a, amos, and an endings to tell who is doing the action. We'll review that, then learn the endings for -er and -ir verbs and practice with them. Please go to this link and read through the page. http://www.studyspanish.com/verbs/lessons/pireg.htm (Copy down the verb endings into the charts on your study guide while you're at it! And write down the subject pronouns again if you need to.) When you get to the bottom of the page, please take the quiz to see how you do. Make sure you pay attention to the subject pronouns to know which ending to put on the verb. When it asks you if you want to include the vosotros/vosotras form, select "no." You can take the quiz as many times as you need. When you've taken it and are happy with your score, come write your name and your score down on the paper by me. When you finish with the verbs, you can do one of the following things: 1. Work on your study guide (You can use the Internet to help you.) 2. Explore http://www.studyspanish.com/ to learn about other topics 3. Click on the "Extra Resources" tab at the top and play any of those games Gracias! When conjugating verbs, we look at a verb in the infinitive form (with the -ar, -er, and -ir endings still on) and then take off those endings and add on the endings to tell us who is doing the action. Please watch these following videos in order to better understand this concept.
In English, we also conjugate our verbs, but with fewer forms than Spanish. For example, in English we say, "I speak" but "He/she speaks." So the verb "to speak" changes between speak and speaks depending on who is doing the speaking. In Spanish, there are 6 forms as opposed to our 2. First, remind yourself of the subject pronouns by watching this video on YouTube: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4gg1soO1CUQ Then, watch this video on YouTube for the I form: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3bTJ0qHk3hs&feature=relmfu Next, the you form: http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=fvwp&NR=1&v=6ScSctwXvjM Then, he/she/you (formal) form: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dLqbIRY-8gg&feature=relmfu We form: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rGJ6c3JN-_o&feature=relmfu They/you guys form: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HKBKTI5pE-k&feature=relmfu This should help you to better understand your work from Tuesday and what we're moving into. We have almost finished the 3rd marking period and our learning has continued. You have learned some more vocabulary, reviewed the subject pronouns, and learned how to conjugate -ar verbs in the present tense. We will work more with this, but you should be proud of your work and what you've learned. Try talking about different things in Spanish and see how you do! And make sure you listen to some Spanish on TV, in a movie, etc. and see what you can figure out.
